History:

Ashley was the firstborn twin of Dale and Donna Poston. Being born alongside her sister, Ariel, nearly cost the life of their mother due to them being twins. It took a while for their mother to recover, but once she did, she cared for them the best way she could alongside their father. A few years later, her mother gave birth to a son and soon after that, they moved to the upper state of South Carolina and settled in a small town. They then started their own ranch in 1855, selling goods at a local store to make income for their family.

All the children of the Poston family helped on the ranch, although they had to hire others to help them out too, but either way, it prospered. Around the age of twelve, Ashley began to dabble in drawing on any paper she could find. Her spark turned into a flame and she could not stop drawing; whether she was at home or in the school house, she couldn’t stop her hands from creating. On her 18th birthday, Ashley’s parents bought her canvases, a painting easel, and paint; knowing her family supported her artistic talent, she began painting her heart out and broadening her talent.

One time, a stranger came passing through for shelter from a terrible storm; of course their family would show their hospitality by letting him stay until the storm passes. This gentleman’s name was Samuel Palmer (1805–1881), an English landscape painter, etcher and printmaker from the United Kingdom. He came across Ashley’s paintings in her room and took an interest in them; he approached Ashley, saying that she has a true talent and wanted to take her with him to London to study abroad, saying that he is usually commissioned by a man by the name of Crawford Starrick. When she and her entire family heard this, they were all so happy for her! But, she did not want to go to London on her own, so she asked if Ariel would accompany her on her journey. Her sister accepted and they were sent on the next boat to London.

After arriving in London, Ariel and Ashley settled into a small flat close to the Whitechapel train station. Both being small-town girls in the big city, their lives were about to change. Ashley and Ariel, upon arriving to Whitechapel Station, they crossed ways with another pair of twins, little did they know would change their lives forever. Arriving in London in 1868, the twins began to start their new lives in London, unbeknownst to them that danger lurked in every corner. After a few months in living in Whitechapel, they have grown accustomed to the British lifestyle, but wat piqued Ashley’s interests where the amazing landscapes and people that she draws inspiration from.

Ashley came across Jacob Frye when she was on her way home from an art exhibit in Westminster where some of her art is featured, when she got pulled into an alleyway by the strange man. After a few minutes of silence (he was covering her mouth) she grabbed him and pivoted the stranger to the ground and ran away. The man had never seen such strength in a woman (besides his sister) and began to have a bit of an interest in her.

After her run in with the strange man, the coming days began to feel strange as if she were being watched in all corners. On one day, she came home to see that her house was in a complete disarray; she was in complete fright, hoping none of her paintings and supplies were destroyed. When she ran into her studio, paint was everywhere; her canvases, artist easel, and most of her supplies were destroyed. The only thing left there was a piece of paper that had “You have been warned!” written in red paint with a symbol.

She later learned that the symbol on the paper was the symbol for the Blighters, a ruthless gang that will go to any lengths to bring London to ruin. She also heard that there was an opposing gang in London called the Rooks, helping a man named Jacob Frye to liberate London from a unknown (to her) person who wishes to destroy it.

She met Jacob Frye for the second time when she and her sister wanted to join his gang, unbeknownst to her that Jacob was the man from the alley. After accepting their offer, Ashley cut her long hair short and dressed in the attire of the Rooks.
